Eh, why not.

Not much activity here, I guess I will show something. Here is a little thing I call "Battle with Evil", it is a concept art for a project I am working on for graal. It being related to graal is the only reason I'm showing it here, but that is beside the point. Please be harsh.

Neat, there's lots of problems with positional stuff, but it's still good. I think you should drop the bullet "line" and add a larger muzzle flair and really detail the face so it looks like it's lighting it up. People will figure the rest out from there, and it will probably interest the eye more, so they look at it longer.

Kaimetsu will become famous soon enough
The guy's head doesn't look like a head (too small?), and his right arm seems to be bending in an unnatural way.

The skeleton is awesome, though.

I think it's good, since I've tried and couldn't do any better.

Excal? ...

Anyways, I can't really decide if I like this or not. The concept, if
you look at it that way, is pretty bad ass. With the dark tones and
highlights, I can see the depth and distance between the guy and the
skeleton. I like that. For other things though, like the fence and
tree, you seemed to just get lazy. I don't know if I'm fond of all
the blurring mixed with the random harsh harsh harsh edges that I can
see. (See: Skeleton and the rain hitting his bones. As well the guy,
then the gun.) The ground seems to be okay I guess, that's what I
would probably see in a stormy/foggy cemetary. All marsh-like, right?
The sky in the background, well... ugh. This is just a pet peeve of
mine, but I rarely ever see the use of stars on a night sky employed
well. In the top right corner I can see a bloody circle. Even though
you tried to be random, which stars seem to be, patterns still came
out. It's hard to get out of. Quick practice would be to get a
white peice of paper, take a brush with black ink, and just wave it
harshly over the paper. You get flicks and clusters of dots. Scan it,
then inverse it. Looks awesome. The grave is probably the worst thing.
Some random things to point out are the skeletons head, guys face, and
his odd position. Is he falling?

Anyways, cool refried beans.

That would be called filters, yet the better half of the Graphics community would steer clear4 from filters in designs like this, I'm guessing.

Some blurs and such would be fine, filters are generaly employed on things which are meant to be visually pleasing, and quickly made.

I've taken the time to change the contrast on this so you can see more detail.

The rib cage needs more work... and the guy's facial features. The skeleton's hand also needs some more detailing. I think the sky looks fine, although it has a butt-load of stars.

Aye that looks pretty awesome. I think the fence needs a bit more work too, but that's already been commented on.

I'm loving the texture on the gravestone.

I prefer the contrasted+ version to the original.

Thank you for the comments. I agree with most of what you all said - I did get lazy on the background. That can be seen by the fact that I DID use stars...I was too lazy to do a nice cloud background. But regardless, I feel my conceptual aspect did get the point across.

Yes, he is falling. You cannot see the shadows well because of the fog, but look closely and it will make more sense.

I think I might scan my ink printed version and show it. I made a few modifications and a printed version always looks nicer.

Also, I DID NOT use photoshop for this. I used Painter. And give me a break - using the filters? I haven't used filters in 4 years, aside from the occasional light rays in photoshop. Who would think of using filters?

I assume you're referring to my "filter" comment, I didn't actually mean that you had used them.

It's fine, but like said elsewhere -- you need to lay off of the effects.
