Perhaps start off with The Newbie's Scripter's Bible to learn some of the basics.

Next, just try experimenting with different items and check this forum if you have any questions.

At least, that's what I'm doing.

Good Luck.

I don't think that newbie bible is usefull anymore, well, you should start reading in my opnion:
Quote:
  • Newfeatures2001.txt
  • Newfeatures2002.txt
  • Newfeatures2003.txt
  • Newfeatures2004.txt
.. and probably npcprogramming.rtf.
Check commands.rtf if you don't know the correct syntax of a command.
And think about this: "Learn to walk before you try to run". Don't try to make hard things if you don't even know the basic things.

Actually... Reading NewFeatures will somewhat confuse you, seeing as they aren't all proper methods. Look through the commands.rft file, and use then, going down the list... If you want to know what the command do, refer to the newfeatures.

Other then that:

Observe => Think => Respond.

That's the only pattern in scripting, erm.. Most frequent pattern!

Newfeatures explain some things perfectly, how would it confuse him?
