Go Kart Racing

ever played Super Mario Kart?

i decided i'd let this ideal goto a good use, g2k1. i was going to use it on my server until i decided that i'd just make it middle aged and leave the new age stuff out. so, Go Karts. you could have 8 different tracks with different climates and stuff. each would have their own obstacles and traps to stop the players from winning the race. you could choose from 5 different Karts and tune them up even. the more you raced and won, the more money you could earn from betting to tune up your Kart and make it more advanced. you could eventually add "rocket launchers" or a "bomb trail" weapon to your car to slow down other players. just an ideal... gimme some feedback please!

i told stefan about the ideal and he liked it. so who knows?

On horses. Powerups: hearts, arrows and bombs. Arrow types: Regular (fires straight), Superbow(fires 3 straight), Moondart(fires a seeker), SuperMoondart(fires 3 seekers), and Proton (Blue Fireball, seeker with a big explosion). Bombs: Regular(hold behind as a shield or drop), 3 Regular (spin around as moving shields or drop), Super, 3 Super, Jolt (proximity fuse-goes off if anyone gets too close). Hearts (or bushes?) are turbos, since health is irrelevant. The real question: Bother using Zoom to do it MarioKart style, or just go around the track Zelda style?

sounds good, but you need to have something effects everyone racing too. something like Suicide (burns up a lot of fuel but does something to the other players?) and i think that if you made the racing concept mariokart like, it would be a nice change from the old graal/zelda format. nice power ups though...

Not many people can see zoom effects

it would probably lag if there was more than one player. perhaps instead of a game just make a track (like horse track) where you can cruise around in and race against an npc and if you win you get some upgrade to the kart. Then you can drive the kart around graal and put it in a pack like the clothes changer (thank god I got that before I was pked) you would have a gas station in most of the major travel areas and one or two gas stations in remote areas of the world.

nah nah nah make it like mario cart. I was working on something and you can make them be able to get thing then lay like mines, banana's and alot of stuff and it could be very good.

i myself haven't seen any threads dealing with Go Karts. that's why i posted. sorry if i offended anyone, i just want to see something new and fun on g2k1 other than pking and bashing.

You can do it supah-easy with zoomeffect. It's just not recommended is all.
Even easier on NW engine, easier still on G3D, obviously.
Maybe that should be G3D's project, a GraalKart game. Worked for Diddy, and that was basically Kart 2

um he was using horses not carts
GoKart formula for say bomb... if (firedonhorse) {putbomb 1, playerx, playery; destroy}
you can fine tune it a bit for the location of the bomb buy that works no? you can do a little more and use the ski npc and just change the gani

The horses on Graal2001 have an own movement
script (when you ride one), so it could be taken
and be changed slightly. The cart (kart?) will
probably need to be slower, otherwise you never
see people and it will be less fun. Also the
things you can throw (red sheels

need to
be different to make sense and not be useless
because of lag / level borders

we allready did that partly... bombs make a great alternative to bananas
for shells we can just use some bomy shell=)
star and boo? um I suppose someone could make some invincibility/invis potions

while I'm all for preserving other peoples rights to their ideas. I think this one has been floating around for awhile. Really, everyone wants this game or that game type put in as a minigame. I even have my own idea for one. We could take the run and jump script and add some moving platforms and some hazards like pits, pools, lava, slime(slows you down and you can't jump as well), falling porticilusses(sp?) and maby some swinging pendolums(hrm also sp) and make a nice little "dungeon" for which the point is to get through as fast as possible. You can even have it so people can place the traps=). BTW I got the inspiration from an AOL game called Claw although I have seen the type of game before. Super Mario Delux has a ghost mode for instance. That one has been floating around in my head for a long time.
