DBNPC's disappearing.

Rufus had asked me for some help with Bomy Island concerning a function suddenly not working. The system is set up with a Control-NPC command to give items to a player, and communicates with a DBNPC called Control-Items. However, when I logged on the server the DBNPC was missing, so the function wasn't doing anything. I checked the NPC folder and the file for the NPC was there. I ended up making a back-up of the file and then made a new NPC under the same name and uploaded the back-up. After I reset the NPC it seems to function... but major DBNPC's should not be disappearing like this. Any ideas? I checked NPC logs and absolutely nothing was touched.

This is a pretty major flaw whatever it is, as the server's whole item database functions off of this NPC.

Doubt it, as no one really has NC access, and logs didn't show anything suspicious... unless it was a sleeper or something implanted somewhere.

I'm unsure if this is your problem but I found some time back that if two DB NPCs have duplicate IDs then only one of the DBNPCs will actually show up in regular RC. (It will still show up in ClientRC and on the server files however)

Bahahaha, Tigre.

Nah, this actually has happened with me when uploading backups of DB NPCs, but never just out of the blue. Were any text versions of DB NPCs uploaded to the npcs/ folder in the file browser at any point?

I don't think anything like that happened at all. As far as I know, it was pretty spontaneous.

This happened to me once, I remember that someone put a DBNPC with the same ID and some crazy stuff happened which basically meant more work.

I think that it actually removed all former traces of the old DBNPC but that may have been patched/I don't remember correctly.
