This is a mortar. In summer school i had to read a book called "All Quite On The Western Front". I've read it twice now (had to go to both sessions...) and really got interested in the type of warfare they had. Mortars should be better than what they are.
Mortar Description:
Extremely useful in the muddy trenches of Europe, mortars were praised because of their high angle of flight. A mortar round could be aimed to fall directly into trenches where artillery shells, due to their low angle of flight, could not possibly go.
Modern mortars have improved upon these designs even more, offering a weapon that is light, adaptable, easy to operate, and yet possesses enough accuracy and firepower to provide the infantry with quality close support. (from Wikipedia)
My Idea :
lets make Mortars more accurate, and lets make it able to shoot further.
a little example just did some quick arrows.
but lets add arrows with a 3-D light behind them, that only the user can see, and let the mortars shoot about 15 tiles further, with more accuracy, and maybe add a 3-D light sorta like the one from the pic

...
Also this would help if we were to add the arrow so that you could shoot diagonally, or in another direction without getting up, and having to move.
It'd work like, once you press "s" or "d" to take the mortar out, you'd then control the arrow with the keypad.
uh so ya'll like the idea? it needs to be changed...
also there was
a mortar in world war 1 that could shoot 130 miles (big bertha, i believe the name was), this is supposed to be like the year 3000 or something like that right? we should be more advanced then this...
[EDIT]
forgot, when mortars blow up, peices of "shells" scatter everywhere, would be cool to see that be added as well. Maybe have the mortar itself do 33 damage, and the shells go 10 tiles in a circle, doing 10 damage each (would only send 6 shells flying around)
