Yeah, I saw findweaponnpc() in Skyld's sticky.
What's the difference between it and findweapon()?

I cannot remember which way around it is, but one of them gets the weapon anyway, and one of them gets the weapon if you have it.

findWeapon() returns a weapon object only if you have the weapon in your inventory, and NULL if not.

findWeaponNPC() returns a weapon object regardless if you have it or not. Usefull for calling serverside public functions and whatnot.
