Looks like a problem with the bitmap fonts.

Are your graphics drivers up to date?

It happens to everyone I know who uses v4...and yes, my graphic drivers are up to date.

It's odd; I don't have this problem.

However. If it's something that only happens very rarely, I guess it can be put up with.

If not, you could toggle the Bitmap Fonts option in your F3 options window.
