I can't really do much anyway in the way of duties because my RC is broken, but I'm also breaking from the forums for awhile simply because I'm finding it increasingly hard not to go on an attack streak against a certain antagonist. I'm sick of the childish behavior from Lance (I'm sure that it is taboo to actually name the troublemaker, but face it mods: you've experienced it from him as much as I have, if not more), and guess what? We are all going to have a nice, easy Christmas without it, at least from me. I'm sure he'll find someone else to bug while I'm gone.
His childish behavior is bad, but I would like occasionally to take him on and call him on it. All you do by closing threads is give him the last word, which he simply loves getting. Thanks for validating his efforts.
I'm sure someone will say "well by responding you're validating them", but this is untrue. He's going to keep doing as he has in the past until someone makes a fool of him, which is never going to happen if you don't let one of these arguments boil until the end publicly. I mean, look at the scripting forum. He attacks people who don't know any better. Sure they should read the rules, but does that really mean that he should break them? By the way, I'm not referring to his moderation, because that would definately be against the rules. I'm referring to his normal posts. The fact he is a moderator apparently has no bearing on how he treats people, so it is irrelevant to these statements.
These are not personal attacks at all (or even opinions) I'm stating, by the way. These are facts based on easily made observations that every member of this community should be able to make.
Alot, and I do mean more than one or two people, say how it is so unbefitting of me to respond to such behavior since I'm a PWA member. I'd just like to say that my behavior is fairly innocent compared to some other individuals who hold higher positions (Hint: not in my department or the GGT), and I did not give up my humanity or free will when I signed on. I have to deal with alot and I've seen alot of things I could do without seeing (for a few more years, anyway) as a PWA member. It's kind of sad that the first real pornographic material (not the annoying banner ads that occasionally appear) I ever saw was on Graal (yes, I am that sheltered). Anyway, that's the price of the job I guess, and I assumed that there would inevitably be some of that. I'll happily pay it too, but I still would like to retain the right to respond to an argument.
I would guess that half of my post will be edited, closed or deleted because it is too truthful. I do not have total lack of faith in the moderators, however, and I hope they see my point and leave it open. Yeah, Lance will probably respond, and yeah, it'll probably be argumentative. I can look after myself though, I don't need people to protect me from him. No actual rules are broken in these arguments, we were simply debating logically. Sure there were heated comments made, but that is because it is a debate. They are pointless unless you are trying to win. It doesn't end until someone loses, and the negative feelings don't magically go away when a thread is frozen in mid-stride. In fact, that just allows aggression to spill into other threads, which is why I'm respectfully absent until next week (unless, of course, I am banned, in which case it may be an undeterminable amount of time, but I really can't see anything that unfair happening).
I'm not an aggressive person by nature. It usually takes a fair amount to get me going. It should be obvious by the way the scripting forum is managed that I am not the culprit. Since I have the testicular fortitude to make a post about it and, golly gee, the consideration to even call it off until after Christmas so that we can all have a nice holiday, I would hope that my character isn't suspect. Sorry if I disappointed anyone by posting this, but you know he has it coming, and nothing has changed and nothing will change unless you let it ride out til the end. Even if it means letting a little stain get on the forums, I think it would help.
Merry Christmas to everyone. |
