Boomerang

I thought maybe we could integrate a Boomerang weapon into the game. I was shooting some arrows one day and then I thought "Well maybe the Boomerang could be shot like an arrow but at the end of the shot where an arrow would normally explode, the Boomerang would just repeat the arc, only in reverse and in a mirrored arc."

They could start out like normal wooden ones, then you can upgrade them. You'd need to craft the wooden one first and then upgrade it, no cheating and just crafting the last phase.

The upgrades would be like

Wooden to Spiked Wooden

Spiked Wooden to Metal

Metal to Bladed Metal and so on.

Any additional suggestions (Serious) would be appreciated. =)

i think its a good idea but it should be like this
wooden-bone
bone-poison thorned
poison-iron
iron-gold
gold-diamond
diamond-magic
yea its alot of work but it would be cool

I like your upgrade ideas. Perhaps they could be made into like an upgrade tree, for example a poisoned thorn can only upgrade to another and then a Bone could be upgraded to gold OR Diamond. it might be confusing but it would be a lot of fun.

What is going to prevent people from crafting straight through all the phases all at once and not having to do it again?

What prevents the upgrade jump is that the boomerang itself is an ingredient in the upgrade, like Steele blade x2 Wooden Board, nails and Boomerang are needed for an upgrade. So you'd have o go through the upgrade no matter what.

(Sorry for the double post but I had to post the idea)

The magic Boomerang would be able to be fused with certain spells such as elemental spells and status.

It's fused for like 10 throws and then you have to fuse it again.

Sadly, I find this idea a disappointment. You had something going, Wooden -> Iron -> Steel -> Crystal -> Diamond -> <w/e>

Now you've got a bone rang.. how the HELL do you expect to make GFX for a bone gfx, let alone throw a bone gfx? How's it sposed to arc back to you? The wc- on it would be horrendous.

Note, --Chris-- already had this idea, and still has it, so don't even think it's going public. Sorry Brad, but since your not getting back in Forest on my watch, no Boomerang for you.

Ever see the boomerang weapon designs used in Skies of Arcadia? They obviously fly because you believe they can fly, aerodynamics be damned.

I think boomerangs would be an interesting addition, maybe make it so there's a chance to drop it when it comes back, depending on your agility level. Anyone that doesn't have good agility won't be able to catch a boomerang very well. ^.^;

I also believe and have a fear of dying from atheletes foot (wow typo). Does that mean there should be like.. a bone balm to sooth your itching? No. Bone boomerang = boo.

I like this idea... it would be a nice event weapon if it wasn't like this..

Brad's Boomerang of goma+7 (damg+17) (wis+1) (speed+3) (attack types: poison, physical, cold, fire, magic, slay ants)
it weighs 1kg

I find that's often the case with event items (*cough* warhammers *cough*)
So if it was weaker it would be a fun weapon (:

I appreciate the positive replies. Please note that the only limit in creativity is your imagination.

The dropping due to agility idea...could you go into more detail?
Would the weapon appear on the ground or would it just have a prompt: You dropped the Boomerang upon it's return! You should work on your throw!

Maybe make it dependent on your agility?
Low agility, you have the chance to get hit in the face by it on the way back, a bit more, and you won't get hurt, but you'll drop it on the ground, and a bit higher, and you'll be able to throw it normally. Fighting with a boomerang would raise agility though.

No reason why it should be forest only item. And I don't ever want to be in forest again..?
