Post 3D Script

I would like to post a 3D script Im working on.. Its good to see the nice effects of "log" and other maths that people usually dont use in the trigonometry. Im long time studying trigonometry, I hope you like it.

Run the script and press "H" to open the command list.

Thanks

Amon-Ra

I don't mean to downplay Amon-Ra's accomplishments, but that barrier was broken a long time ago.

Yeah, I remember one of your 3D light like things of a player in a tube or so.

He did indeed, yes. I believe that made him the second of many (Dach and Hell Raven also made 3D engines, I think).

The original sphere, presumably. It was nice for its time, but showpoly paved the way for my newer superphat polygonal version ^_^

Really nice
But Kaimetsu's 3d thing was cool, too.

Out of curiosity, have you considered the possible problems in using shaded polygons instead of wireframes? It's quite an interesting puzzle to solve

The main reason I made this script is to show RÂČ -> R functions to learn and make my own functions.. So, shaded polygons are fast and better to see the results... I made the whole script to be fast, couse my computer isnt all that good, thats why It doesnt draw in loop like the sphere.. It just draw when you change a variable.. Also to draw this way, probably you saw in the script.. I just give the initial and final position of each line.. so Its pretty easy to draw it with triangles or squares just adding some script lines. I made the wrost and difficult way, but It gives the best "show functions" result.. I think..

Great job

That's cool, alot like mine though, except with more functions, different setup and control (I didn't use the straightforward x/y/z manipulation, instead it just turns according you your perspective)

Kai meant you are using a wireframe, and if you had tried shaded polygons. More like his sphere, but with differential shading between each node. I was going to add that to mine, but the trig functions lag enough as it is, so the effect isn't worth exponentially increasing the showpoly count .

It'd say it's probably the simplest route for what you want, without any unnecessary fanciness. Still, it's fun to think about how other effects would be achieved.

I made a 3d spaceshooting game with lights... and i made a cube... I'm not sure if i made my cube before amonbr

The spaceshooter is fun, but the "3d" engine isnt a realistic rotational one, its different. My cube algorithim as i recall was not as good. I started a 3d bike game, it looks pretty nifty, but as usual im too lazy to finish anything.

I also wrote out an algorithim for a fully rotational graal rubiks cube.

The only viable method you can use is to work out the normal to the polygon, and take the angle from a given ray of light falling on it to work out the intensity. I imagine this is what you did. For those that dont know, this is an example of raytracing, but doesn't cast shadows onto other odjects.

Not quite. But the calculation of light intensity isn't the difficult part anyway.
