Zurkypoo Baby come back?

Simple Question...

Is 2k2 worth it for me to return to tell you guys how to run your kingdoms?

My Package includes:
Fun-filled Wars!
Heavy Diplomacy
AND! A chance to have your kingdom overthrow you and assert me into power!

We need wars, but unfortunately, Kingdoms is too darn peaceful and most leaders dont care about rp.

It's not the leaders, nor any peaceful atitude - it's the system. You can't have a proper war as it is now, it's result in a pk-feast for a few strong players.

Also, I can't say I like most what Zurk's posting, and I don't like the idea this poll impliments - that he's going to rush into any high position just because he wants to. Other from that, I don't really care, as you have to know whether you want to play - it's your money

But I can get a high position in any kingdom .

I'll probably join Forest there and get my Iant rank back, or maybe Tseng will accept me back as a Duke... the others just sicken me

And Doesn't matter... PK Feasts or what ever... wars are fun

Chris said he'd give me a high rank in Forest as well, but he says noone is getting tag access. I'll come to Forest with you if you come back, though.

I are be Iant with Zurkiba.. omgomgomgomg!

Yeah, but come back... If you can deliver what your suggesting, then come back... But, theres alot of stuff changed, so it's going to be hard to find more then 10 people who RP well and actually can play the game as well..

Anyways, I do believe Forest is having a member swipe, so once thats all said and done, it would be a good time for Forest to emerge with new kewlr members.

On a side note : Cyrin begs alot! For alot of things... o_o GO get your own kingdom! :P

WOOOO

Go big Z, SOMETHING needs to be done with this sh#+house kingdoms system, the best thing about 2k1 was the WAR, Then Kamuii Killed the war by owning Zormites, noone dared challenge Dust/Zorm.

If all you're going to do is try and get a high rank just because of your arrogance and RP skills which 99% of the server don't give a crap about and take over other kingdoms, then don't come back.

In fact...do come back, and try and get the server to start roleplaying again. I'll be there to laugh at you when your efforts fall on deaf ears and you fall on your ass.

You're taking the ignorant view that "oh, kingdom leaders are just sitting there with their fingers up their noses wondering what the letters RP stand for". Stop it already, its starting to annoy me. I'd love to dump say Samurai in your hands right now and tell you you had like a month to get them all roleplaying to perfection, without just booting everyone and recruiting all your old astri buddies and going off and attacking other kingdoms under the false guise of RP.

Like i've said in another post. Battles are a PART of roleplaying, not vice versa. You think, or at least 99% of your posts (the other ones are just complaints about how the kingdoms aren't run properly) suggest you think that Fighting other kingdoms = Roleplay. Nope. I'd have thought you'd have remembered something from back on 2k1...we didn't spend every 5 minutes having big-ass fights with anything that moved, not until those ***** Karakaze troupe came along anyway.

Shuttup. I really can't believe that good ol' Zurky thinks that offering people lots of "roleplaying" battles will bring back Roleplaying to GK. I've always tried to retain respect for you, since i used to know you on 2k1 as a damned good roleplayer, but all this "LETS KONKAR EVRYTIHNG" stuff is just poor.
Offering people fights won't bring back roleplaying, it'll just attract more of the PKing idiots who think "Roleplaying = Fighting -> Fighting = PKing -> PKing = fun" that're clogging up the server right now. That's probably what you want anyway though; a couple of nice powerful PKers to get you your "kingdom". After all, the powerplayers seem to hold all the cards on kingdoms right now.
Who are you to judge the state of the kingdoms? You don't even play the game anymore, you know hardly anything about any of the members or the leaders; you just sit there with your back turned thinking "Yeah, i have 'heavy diplomacy'. I can get any position i want and i could do a better job than any of them. yeah. sure. yeah. mmhmm."

The only way you'd go around conquering all the other kingdoms once you have used your ever so amazingly superior diplomacy to just take the reigns of the kingdom of your choice, is by recruiting powerplayers. The majority of the powerplayers have absolutely no interest in roleplaying whatsoever, and they'd probably join you and pretend to roleplay just so that they could go around "pwning" people. I for one, and i hope most of the other members of various kingdoms would agree (if they hold their RPing dear -_-) would certainly not accept any kind of attack from these PKers. Kingdom tag or not, heavily diplomatic reason for war or not, ever so ultimately perfect "kingdom" leader or not, these people are only there to PK, and we all know this.

So please, please do come back and try to get any position in any kingdom you want, go on, please...pleeeeease. Come and see that it isn't the fault of the kingdom leaders, not Wren and Zoe at any rate. Come and see that it is in fact the fault of the rest of the population that's to blame for roleplay. I could count the number of sereous roleplayers on this server with my fingers and maybe if i stretched out the boundaries far enough my cheesy right foot. Everyone else are either idiots, idiots with too many EAs and IWDs and too much time on their hands and not enough brain cells to use the server for what it was designed for, or new people who have never even heard of the words role playing before. I would absolutely orgasm to see you come on here and teach the entire server how to RP, how to not spend all day PKing, and how to say and do vaguely intelligent things. Really. Orgasm. Yes.

I think you'll find that when you do come back, and fail miserably at using your ever so amazing diplomacy to teach a server that -doesnt want to roleplay- how to roleplay, there will probably be someone else just like you sitting there saying "I could do a better job than that zurkiba, he's not a very good kingdom leader."

My ways of ruling have been refined...

Along with my admittance... before I allow someone under my wing they have to take two tests; A personality test to determine the type of character the person is an an RP test.

Leaders are required to take a leadership test which offers about five situations in which that person has to fix.

Then there is the seperation of powers. Not just Zurkiba, the warmongering fool, in my styles of government I split my power into several areas which are lead by unique individuals.

And that's just in your opinion that wars wont influnce RPing. In my opinion I think it will intensify the RPing process of 2k2. Some players will look to kingdoms and go 'Wow... that looks fun, I want to join'. From there it's left up to the kingdom leaders to train the players on how to RP.

If you want to come back and try to fix GK's RPing, then you're welcome to it, but usually one person isn't enough to get things done.

What I want to happen NOW, is a FULL Reset on the server.

It shouldn't even be in Beta anymore, stefan's just basically adding new items thats all.

When the reset occurs, the game will be so much funner.
Because all the bug abuse/and inflation ruined the game.

((Of course the War System must be updated, Stefan doesn't even bother looking at the kingdom suggestions anymore , notice how he doesn't moderate that section anymore?))

Unfortunatly its been proven that the possibily of this happening, is as good as you walking in your backyard then stubbing your toe on a sidewalk of solid gold.

The powerplayers wouldnt stand for it, the populaton would drop, GK would be out of luck.

Population problems? Wrong...
Right now...Graal Kingdoms is unattractive for new players. You have to be very stubborn, blind, crazy, or just unique to come to want to play GK or continue playing it. So...whatever happened to all the good people? My guess is they take their good elsewhere. Zurk...what do you do these days? Ghost Pirate, you still watching these forums? I guess we'd have to ask the people in those situations.
If things would be fixed, people who don't want things to be changed would leave because the game is already without balance and you balance it, they don't like the change because they were once at the top of that inbalance and were brought down to everyone else.... You're basically taking away a greedy god's powers.
However, after all this, new players would be able to come and have a chance at enjoying GK. There would be fun for everyone as it should be.

Things are broken, they should be fixed. Whether it be the inbalance (classes, items...) in game causing problems of the game's fighting system, the RPing problems (RP admins would be much help...considering kingdom leaders are a failure as such), lack of organization on certain systems (like kingdom event items: someone in Samurai could easily go around wearing a Zormite shield....), and all the other things.

I agree 100%, graal kingdoms needs to go under construction for a week or something, and get classes, items, kingdoms, and all that fixed, then hire lance, zurk, people like that as Dungeon Masters, and then reset it.

I went over this in another thread, though i cant find the link

What happens after this balance, when the powerplayers now would leave, and the other players who get balance, would become powerplayers, then the third (or fourth?) generation of GK players would become powerplayers, then what happens when new guys want to come play, and have a chance.

Right, the game is unbalanced for them

There can never be utopian balance, there will always be people who are better then others, its just fact

Ew your logic is just all flawed

UC Would Kill GK, In an Instant, it did to 2001.

Dungeon Masters? Bleh i dont think that even 50% of the Population would go for people telling them how to play, that is RP Admins or DMs, would be too much like Valikorlia, that = bad.

As far as a *snap snap* reset, Woah! Read above, you want to lose the very little people you have left? GK Just lacks one good tool, appealing content

You're wrong. There are problems that CAN be fixed.

First, I acknowledge there is always an "inbalance" that cannot really be avoided. This balance lies in the advantage older players have than new players. The fact is simple, if I start a day before you do, and we both use the same kind/quality of computer, same internet speed/service, and we work equally hard in the same exact ways to build up our characters, I will always be better than you because I had that day. It's like a race. Even if you put a level cap on players, there is everything else that players work on such as "wealth" and items.

However, in addition to these problems you probably see in every online game, there are other unfair advantages. For example, there's the random alchemy item situation. Players were able to create these items for themselves at some time or just buy them easily. It was easy to buy them because it was a "buyer's market", they were able to be produced so players could actually look for the seller who sells for the cheapest. Now, you have to look for the person who actually has these items and will actually sell. You'll be a fool if you actually want the item at a cheap price. And this is just one little aspect in a big collection of inbalacing issues, though I believe this is enough since alchemy items make up the best items in the game...gloves...armour...helms, anyone want to add to the list? And alchemy items are not the only items which were once possible to create, had their creation disabled, but were not removed. Remember what you could create a while ago in Hotaru? I'll give you a hint, it was blue, cold, small, and yet big...and it hurts badly and fastly

And don't bother saying removal of the items would help either. You still have the impacts of them. Players are able to level up easier and faster with great items, ya know? So in addition to older players having the usual advantage of being around longer and having longer time to level up, they also had it easier than the new players did. And if you havn't noticed...your level and your income are closely related. So then, the economy is effected as well. You still think removal would help? I hope not. Do you want to reset old players only? And players who have any of these "artifacts" from the past? Maybe that would be fair? I hope not...total resetting would be better.

In addition to those, aren't there other problems? Bug abuse that went on with older players (to get exp and money)....

Edit:
You see a problem with there being RP admins to enforce roleplaying? You see a problem with GK's RPing be like Val's? I see NO problem. Graal Kingdoms is supposed to be a player role-playing game, am I right? After all, the whole world of GK is based on Kingdoms which were originally roleplaying groups. It should be expected that the game is based on roleplaying. It should be expected that instead of spending all your time leveling up and collecting items, you're actually playing along in some constantly developing story with not only wars and pointless feuds between kingdoms, but constant challenges being seen within your own kingdom such as internal affairs, rebellions, poverty, governmental corruption, crime, apathy towards international affairs, natural challenges caused by the world such as weather effecting a farmer's job, sea currents making international trade impossible etc... (as you reach the end of that list, you can see how taking away the main island would make things more interesting and better)

Exactly - so if someone wants to rp, he will and can, no matter what items are arround. If someone wants to annoy and pk, he will and can, no matter what items are arround. It's not the fault of the system. While there are some balance issues, which can be fixed in my opinion by making more armours craftable - maybe even mith - and do something about the spellcaster's disadvantage, you'll never get people to rp by forcing them. The job of an RP-Admin is crap, as a) you can't force people into certain characters if they don't make one of their own which they like, and b) you can't be everywhere to see and check what people are doing/sayins, plus you can't know whether they're rping properly just by looking at it without knowing the background.
Also, the only thing a reset would bring is that those who worked for their items and exp - not powerplayers, but average players who just do a map every now and then and like to farm, bake, roleplay and play the flute every now and then - are annoyed because it is taken from them. Sure, it's just a game, but you spent time on it, and you want to see the results. So, some will leave, and the newer players will celebrate - and powergamers among them will rival the old ones. Hence, all you'll get is new powergamers. It will do nothing about rping, and most of those screaming 'reset!' are new players who can't deal with the fact that those who played longer are of course better, no matter what. GK isn't about being stronger - it's about rping.

Something like ive tried to say from the start

However if it is an RPing world, look at how over 50% of that population is at least pkers who know about jack crap about rping

Either dont wanna, wont, or dont know how

If you reset to suit the server, youll rid it of the pkers, thus most of the population. Its an opinion really, but a reset just dosent look like the most suited solution here.

I disagree. You'll rid the server of some pkers as well as some of those rpers who are of the opinion that they, respectively their character, worked for their stuff, and they don't want it deleted just like that, after they did nothing wrong. Some rpers will remain, as well as some pkers who just want to annoy - and they'll resort to powergaming to do so.

more true, even so because of the constant lack of balance there always is

Bleh, there's too much big text to quote here so i won't bother.

Apart from that little bit at the end about ridding GK of main island, Ziro's been giving across some damned good points for one of the first times

And to Dragn, about the reduction of population, I'd say "nahhh".
There are....hmmm...probably about 10-15 PKers at the very most, and around 10 people walking around trying to be like the PKers. Talking, acting and treating people like the PKers do. Sucking the PKers asses in other words. In even more other words, they are the PowerPosers.

This small group of people are what would leave if the reset happened - a meagre 25 people out of the...around 80 players (at peak times) that usually play GK. Plus getting rid of these clowns might bring old people back as well as encourage more new people to come on. Right now, the first thing a new person sees when warped to bomboria is the Powerplayers and their Powerposer lackeys. They get brainwashed and instantly shown what GK is like, and so either decide "Ew, full of *****s" and leave or "Hmm, let's try and become a PowerPoser". With the PP/PPs gone, the new people wouldn't see this and so more people would start playing as well as not becoming idiots.

And what would be done with these Powerpeople? They payed for their account, and they're people also. You may not like them but you can't simply throw them in the oven.

I don't think resetting the server is going to help anything at all. The same problems will exist after the wipe. All you stand on changing is losing many players who don't feel like redoing all they've worked for.

I think a major issue is the unfriendly environment towards newbies. Not really the social aspects; there are of course those who hate anyone who is new to a game. There are also the game mechanics themselves. The starter island is pretty big, and I'm sure more of it can be utilized to teach players. It seems like the beginning of a tutorial, but I am sure more can be put into it. Like how to get a pet, more on combat, and actually equipping the player for when they go out and fight.

The guy who gives the tutorial says to come back after you complete it. The 6th task requires something with a sunken ship, but when you go there it's the ship that leads to the mainland. Go to the mainland you can't get back to the starter island, and the quest is over with so you cannot go back to that old man and get whatever he said he would give. Also, if you do go back and talk to him (by dieing), he just gives you the quest again.

I think that selling items would be greatly enhanced by an ebay type system in place. It would be nice to have it more peer to peer style, where when a player is looking for items, they hit the function key or option and it pops up and queries all the players in the player list, generating the list of items that people are selling (without creating a load on the server or requiring the server to store that information).

I agree that it seems a bit ridiculous that a player could basicly learn the majority of the skills in the game despite what their class is. I can understand a class system but the way it stands currently, it just determines how difficult it is when you first start out.

It'd be nice if there was a way to limit how many skills can be learned. This of course wouldn't fly with magic much. Then again, I'd say that priests and mages don't mix. For the most part, mages deal with an internal magic or external, depending on the spells they use, and a priest deals with faith. Having them cross with their skills just doesn't seem right.

Dunno, probably already been said but that's just me two cents.

A limit to skills should be possible in the final version (which will never exist, so these suggestions are just for fun really XD). It could be that like...well...uhh...let's break off from this sentence for a moment:
There are just a few main skills that are pretty much essential to the character most people have (people with all the skills -_-), and these are:
-Piety
-Literacy
-Ledgermain
-Woodlore

You could do something like this, and let's use the barbarian as an example.
A barbarian has two...skill slots...o_O
He can fill these slots with either Piety, lit or ledger.
After filling the slots with two of these three, the third one can NEVER be learnt by the barbarian.
**NOTE:For this to work, the talisman would have to be removed but pfft, so what?**

With classes like the priest you could also have two skill slots, but instead of the main skills being literacy and piety (since he starts with both) they could be like...missile weapons and stealing or something.
