NPC server is getting on my nerves.

It used to happen in the begining, then it stoped and now it happening again. the ToT NPC server is shutting douwn like every othere day wich makes it very hard for anything to get done, If you know a way stefan please fix this. Personally I believe its the security on the server that the NPC server runs on. Its an EZ target for DDoS attacks in my eyes.

It's only for ToT right? Are you it isn't due to too many NPC's that the NPC Server crashes?

It was shutdown because it had too many
laggy npcs (too much CPU time=other servers will
be lagged). It seems to be fixed now, so I have
restarted it. Unixmad will also update the kernel
soon which makes the npcservers faster
(don't ask me why)

Yeah, I went through and deleted all the test levels and stuff, took FOREVER because the damn FTP server graal has kicks you off after like five minutes of inactivity, and going through a huge directory with like 3500 files takes more then 5 minutes... I wish graal had its own FTP client so we dont need to deal with all this addware crap, unless your willing to pay 50 dollars just to get rid of adds and get afew more functions.

You should have in the npcserver if someone puts a npc thats going to disconnect the server it will give them a message like 'Unable to creat npc Reason: The npc code you have entered contains inproper scripting which can cause the server to lag or disconnect. Please go over the script and try agin'.

Their should also be a thing where every houre the npcserver checks if it's connect, and if it's not it will auto reconnect.

If you're using an NPC Server there's no reason you should lag it to death (well, except that one time I made that NPC of death, but other than that). Besides, it'd be a BIG waste of time for Stefan to make a lag-checking device...he'd have to isolate every source of lag then make a mathematical way to calculate how much lag each command with create, and then estimate how many iterations of a loop it would take using that script to kill the npc server, THEN check the script and see if it's going to loop that many times...

Basically, it's easier to make sure you get things right the first time

Thrue, But he still should do the check if it's connected everyhoure. That should be pretty easy using some hard coding.

well, if the npc server crashes from an npc, putting it back up won't help, it'll just run again and crash again. I know he was planning a reconnection thing though...
