Notice where I said knowing the wieght limits in that game (refering to Graal 2002).
Everything in it is out of proportion, nothing, or at least very few items weigh closly what they would in real life.

Pith, in real life you (your body) weighs something doesn't it? Of course you aren't actually carrying it, but you are affected by gravity by that weight. Maybe on planet Graal 2002 most people weigh 70 kgs.

30kg armor = 90 lb
30kg shovel = 90lb
5kb book = 15lb

Man, gravity must suck on g2k2.

Main Entry: 1weight
Pronunciation: 'wAt
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English wight, weght, from Old English wiht; akin to Old Norse vætt weight, Old English wegan to weigh
Date: before 12th century
1 a : the amount that a thing weighs b (1) : the standard or established amount that a thing should weigh (2) : one of the classes into which contestants in a sports event are divided according to body weight (3) : poundage required to be carried by a horse in a handicap race
2 a : a quantity or thing weighing a fixed and usually specified amount b : a heavy object (as a metal ball) thrown, put, or lifted as an athletic exercise or contest
3 a : a unit of weight or mass -- see METRIC SYSTEM table b : a piece of material (as metal) of known specified weight for use in weighing articles c : a system of related units of weight
4 a : something heavy : LOAD b : a heavy object to hold or press something down or to counterbalance
5 a : BURDEN, PRESSURE b : the quality or state of being ponderous c : CORPULENCE
6 a : relative heaviness : MASS b : the force with which a body is attracted toward the earth or a celestial body by gravitation and which is equal to the product of the mass and the local gravitational acceleration
7 a : the relative importance or authority accorded something b : measurable influence especially on others
8 : overpowering force
9 : the quality (as lightness) that makes a fabric or garment suitable for a particular use or season -- often used in combination <summer-weight>
10 : a numerical coefficient assigned to an item to express its relative importance in a frequency distribution
11 : the degree of thickness of the strokes of a type character
synonym see IMPORTANCE, INFLUENCE
[weight table]

The bold is the key term... Since we do not know te gravity of Graal... we do not know what the weight is. For all we know... a 4 year old (about like 40 lbs on Earth) could weigh about 60lbs or even more...

We dont know the size of Graal because we are limited to some small islands. You have to remember THIS IS NOT EARTH... THIS IS NOT REAL LIFE this is a fantasy game in which we live on another world not like Earth.

My mass is about 65Kgs and I'm not over/underweight. It's not inconceivable that a person could be 70Kgs.

LoL... ask your science teacher, but I'm pretty sure kg is actually mass, not weight... so a 30kg shovel, for example, seems pretty massive (mass has nothing to do with gravity). Of course a g2k2 kilogram could be different from an Earth kg.

EDIT But I'd say the "70 kg" is probably body weight. Maybe some classes are heavier than others, or body weight is just a random stat like any other?

Is this right? I think 1kg is closer to 2lb than 3lb...

*for hair-splitters who read my last post* ON EARTH 1kg is close to 2lb

Nevertheless, I don't think a book would weigh 10 pounds,a shovel 60, and a suit of armor 60...possibly suit of armor but it'd have to be doubly reinforced.

Suit of armor..... geez, easily. Look it up sometime. Medieval books... yeah. Remember, the books were written by hand, which means the pages were like big-dictionary-sized, and they were hardbound. Sometimes REALLY-hardbound. Big, thick, and heavy. Of course (and here's my suggestion)

THEY HAD MORE INFORMATION IN THEM than this little bit of crap we get with our starting books. I want more information!!!

The shovel, though, is WAY too heavy. 60lb? Geez..... 40lb? Still not good enough. 20lb? nope. 10lb? Ok, that's more reasonable. Stefan, the shovel weighs too much!!

Considering huge tomes of lore, correct...but scrolls and grimoires which are only memoirs which were a few pages long don't tend to weigh ten pounds. Hard bound iron books didn't even weigh 10 pounds usually.

No offense Chronos but how exactly do you know that? Is that a fact you know or just a guess. I am not challenging your geuss but the fact you use it as fact.

And I don't know if you noticed people but the shovel is made out of solid metal.

Heheh, he must carry around large metal books or something.

Scrolls are light.. they are way less then 1kg each. Books are varied in weight and are heavier.. There is no indication that kg is kilogram.

Please see the difinition of
Weight on page 1... it explains how a book can weigh 10 pounds, a shovel 60 lbs, and armor 60 lbs.

So lets pretend Graal's Gravity is 10x that of earth...
So if you had a 1 lb shovel on Earth, it'll be 10 pounds on Graal.
That wouldn't be alot since I am only guessing the Generics of Graalians are like 'super-human'.

My Generics Theory is like this, Humans are born adapted to the gravity. So the Graalians are adapted to their gravity. Like the Neanderthals(sp?) we are born with amazing strenghts. Our Generics can increase our strength with little exersize.
Along with this extraordinary strength, there is extraordinary gravity... making rocks, trees, everything more heavy... so a balance comes with the weight of things and the strength of people. So if the strongest Graalian was to come to earth... they would be able to lift 10x more then the strongest human.

But we know NOTHING about The Graal Planet and The Graal Race... so that is why that's a theory.

They'd also probably explode. Darn that lack of atmospheric pressure.

Superman didn't. Oh, wait, that was the yellow sun, not the gravity.

At Earth's gravity the atmospheric pressure would be far smaller, since the atmosphere would be compressed less by the smaller gravitational influence. The only thing that stops creatures from being crushed by atmospheric pressure is their internal pressure. Take a Graalian - with high internal pressure to match his natural environment's high atmospheric pressure - and put him on Earth, and that internal pressure would be unrestrained by the atmosphere and cause him to explode, just like if you put a man in space without a suit.
