disablepause server setting

I think this should be an option. I find pausing nothing but disturbing. Or at least, could you make so you have to stand still for 10 seconds to pause.

So I should make the whole server a sparringzone?

I was a PKer, not anymore but I do think pause is a very stupid feature.

hmmm

games without a pause botton suck. What if you need to go number 1? You dont want to close graal all together. And what about those impossible non-p2p server quests? you HAVE to use pause, or you get killed by 100000 flying balls. Or you need to answer a pm? PAUSE.

As I said, stand still for 10 seconds. You're not supposed to pause in quest, you just proved my point.

if you dont want someone to pause in a quest, you add sparringzone....because that is not your whole server....the diable pause thing is not so kewl. who wants to wait 10 seconds to answer a pm?

I don't think taking out pause completely is a good thing.
But having to stand still for at least 10 seconds before pausing would be a great feature.

Tyhm has a spectacular aura about
Hm.
Perhaps a compromise: FreeSparringZone
Acts like a Sparring Zone in most respects, but does not affect your rating. Very useful for Spar Training Rooms!

Perhaps an option in the serveroptions.txt:
Nopauselevels:
then list all the levels you want no pause here, it would take a lot of work though =/

i like the last 2 ideas (Tyhm and Python) but not the 10 second thing. What would be better would be a command like endreading; or something, that automatically gets rid of a player being paused or reading a sign. You could put it in a systems npc and have an NPC declare that room unpausable, ect.

Level NPC:
if (playerenters||created) {
level.nopause=1;
}

System:
....
if (timeout) {
...
if (level.nopause=1) {
if (playerisreading) {endreading;
}
}
}

that would be just as effective, and it would serve more of a purpose than just pausing. That way, if youre in a quest, and its a sparring zone, and the player's wise up and fire an NPC that uses say2, they wouldnt be able to pause

Bococ and i discussed this in another thread, it would be useful if there was a disablepause, enablepause, pauseplayer, and unpauseplayer command for making menus that appear when they press pause...but we got no real responce, i think its a great idea.

yeah

i remember that thread, but if there was pause/unpause player, there would no need for enable/disable pause, because you could code NPCs (maybe systems) to do that for you with the pause/unpause commands.

Enable/disable pause would be needed for that kind of system, because they are wanting to use the 'P' button, and the keydown wouldnt run until they unpause.
