Need help with sprites.png

I edited the sprites.png and i was wondering if there was a Script like the state.png has ( i believe its setstatusimage(); ) to set a different img instead of replacing the original.
Anyone know of this command and could inform me of it, if not is there a way around it? Id perfer not to replace...

also please rename it to something like youServerName_sprite.png,
because you will over-write the normal one if u dont, and that is VERY annoying.

I know... i already said that i didnt want to replace the original, I wouldn't ask for this script otherwise lol
