Becoming a great artist must go through the heart, not the urge for fame or money (there are better careers for those goals anyway). You want to express yourself, draw what's in your head and be proud of the results. The image comes from the outside, into your head, where it transforms. The end result is your image, a reflection of you. Of course you lose some of that image, but that's a part of all creative processes. Everything affect us, and culture is a big part of that. Uhm... yah.
