yah, if they changed the house script so there would be more floors, they migth have to do a resset, lest the find a clever way to do it.
Give people with H right the ability to destroy houses _IF_ the owner is there and agrees. Then make it so that new houses will have the extended abilities, old houses remain the same.

Also, the upkeep could be steepened so you have to work harder to maintain it, and if one part crumbles then all the floors above it colaps (or replace it o.O, ie first floor falls into the basement)...
If you repair the house, you should repair the whole of it, not just the west wing or whatever. And if it's going to crumble, it will crumble as a whole, not in parts, I'd say.

As for the additional houses, it could become more expensive for each land deed you buy, or perhaps the individual kingdoms should intervine, and tax its players for more houses.
Taxes would be nice, collected by players (say 20 plats per month, nothing too serious). For this, though, it would be nice to know how this kingdom treasury actually works...

I don't think that its wrong for players to have impressive houses, as your not at the lowest rung in society when you're at level 12, for example...
Level has nothing to do with social status. In theory, you can be King with level 1 and slave with level 100. Of course, it doesn't really work that way, but I think such extended houses should be rare, and restricted to the countryside, not to overcrowd towns.
