For new people, i'd suggest Bile. It means that you don't have to waste half your time obtaining food and such, and it isn't that hard to cast small woulds (i don't think so, anyway. the only reason i had trouble with it is because i was a barb with like 2 grace XD). Plus bile's avatar is quite good, if a little slow, once you get to level 10. Once you're like level 12, switch to a better god that gives better money for blessed weapons (like gov or leuc or ogma[?]) and level up until you can bless really well
