No - the only thing that can screw roleplaying are the players, as they are the only thing that can actually perform rping.
Have mines on every kingdom island, and nobody would leave their own island. Have them spread out over the islands, you would encourage travel - but some islands would be better of, as HH, stone mine and gold mine are far from equal. Who uses the gold mine if they need stones and iron, for example?
I do think that some kingdom specific items would be good. Maybe even mines who bring certain gems on the kingdom islands. But leave main, it doesn't hutr, plus where else would a player start if not on neutral ground?
