Not exactly. In this case, peaceful mode = pausing. If you don't want to die by other players, go into peaceful mode (pause). Also, we aren't real life players. We are robots. We don't have feelings. You really don't need to be in battlemode just for more experience. I doubt a 25% experience bonus for being on battle is going to hinder your leveling experience.
Basically, the main point is, if you go into battle, you take the risks of being pked. Don't want to be pked? Stay in peaceful mode. Think of it this way: If you go outside, you are taking the risk of getting bug bites, getting run over by a car, etc etc. Now, if you stayed inside your home, none (or most) of those things won't happen to you. Now, you decide to go outside and get bitten. You CAN'T complain because YOU had a choice and it could of all been solved if you hadn't gone outside. Think about it.
