I wasn't around when this kingdom mode stuff was about, so i don't really know, but i can guess...and my idea is probably a cliche of it:

You can go into either battle mode or Kingdom mode when you ring the bell/either bell.

Battlemode means you can kill and be killed by anyone else in battlemode.

Kingdom mode means you can kill and be killed by anyone else in kingdom mode. You have to be a member of a kingdom and you have to be wearing your tag for kingdom mode to be active.

You can't be in battle mode and kingdom mode at the same time.
