The items aren't unfair - their avaliablilty is. Make them craftable at a reasonable high expense, and things will get better rather than worse.
Also, what can admins do? "Rp or I'll ban you?" I don't see a point in that. While more admins wouldn't make things worse, and improve stuff here and there, they can't change the majority of players.
