He's basically insulting me because I wasn't clear enough for him, which in turn made him look like an ass for assuming something. I think it was uncalled for. :/

How is that insulting? I gave you a bit of constructive criticism. If you don't want people pointing out something arrogant which can be inferred from your words, you should be more clear. Your words might have had some validity if I was the only one who inferred that - however, I was not alone.
