As for the comments on money, pearl diving has changed from the first day of official release. White pearls are still worth 1 gralat for 5, black pearls are now worth 1 gralat for 4, and pink pearls are worth 1 gralat for 2.
(For those who didn't know, it used to be that 5 white=1 gralat, 2 black=1 gralat, 1 pink=1 gralat.)
Now, bird catching is more profitable than pearl diving, therefore giving it actual use.
