The grass tiles are so-so... looks more like some kind of bumpy green surface. I sugest making the highlights in the grass more line-ish to give an illusion of blades... the mushroom seems fine, althought it could be rounded out a tad....
I hate the beach and water tiles. The water's color looks like if you swim in it your skin will be burned off... A solid color (cept where the depth changes) would actualy do better than the texture. For the water, some kind of gradient would be better, if you want to make a convincing illusion of water.
I dislike the beach tiles, because its a bad contrast to what it looks like you are trying to aim for.
Also, it looks like you use a airbrush tool for most of the textures. You're not using it enough. The sand doesn't look grainy enough, although the soil almost looks right.
If you're using a 'shop' program to do the airbrushing, I sugest you increase the dencity of the brush for the water and add shadows here and there for it. If you're using *shrudder* ms paint, then I feel sorry for you, and what you've made is then actualy failry good considering what you have to work with. |
