Well, an insult is a means to express a negative opinion about something. It has meaning for the person because it allows them to show others how they feel. Therefore, insults do serve a purpose. Whether this purpose is good or bad is subjective.

But as I explained, insults do serve a purpose. Whether this purpose is good or bad is up to you to decide. Right and wrong isn't the issue here and maturity by definition does not deal with such things. In simplest terms, maturity is the state of being fully developed (and in this case I suppose it would be mental development). No definition of maturity addresses abstracts like right and wrong so anything you associate with maturity is subjective..

I suppose that's your interpretation of normality. This normaility you describe does not appear to be the status quo. In a perfect world I suppose senior citizens could be like that, but in reality many are not. I'd dare say the majority of them are not. This is besides your point though. You seem to be saying that no matter how mature you become (though I would NOT say that seniority = maturity as you imply with your example), you can never fully mature. The problem here lies on what you consider to be mature. Standards would have to be set for this to be completely true. Otherwise you are just putting a subjective meaning to maturity. What I consider to be mature may be immature in your eyes. So basically, mature has an objective denotation, but a completely subjective connotation. The reason for this being that while the definition says the state of being fully developed...what you consider to be "fully developed" is entirely subjective.
