You're right that his attitude could put him into trouble. Similarly, my propensity for eating ice-cream could lead to trouble in the form of a mind-numbing brain freeze, but you do not criticise my love of frozen treats. If he's willing to face the trouble then that's fine. He's entitled to his own outlook.
