Exactly Kai, I agree with you.

Like most learning processes, the amount you learn from npc lessons will be very much related to what you put into them.

it will not work to just be a sponge and copy the chat text.
The teachers should give the students 'homework' and have them make their own NPC related to the subject in hand, on their own, before going on to the next lesson.
that does, however, require an honor system and a level of trust.

hope for the best, and prepare for the worst i guess?
