I'm asking how you would script the censor system, not how the user interface would work. I think you greatly underestimate the difficulties involved.

As do you. I am not describing a system that selectively filters people, but rather one that allows the person to choose whether or not they see the profanity. How would either of you edit Jeff's script to allow this functionality?
