Do I really sound like I'm crying? What, anybody who criticises a person or group can automatically be assumed to be 'whining' or 'crying'? Then you're whining and crying about those who criticise Americans.
Some people truly are free-minded, but it's quite rare. Most help others because society tells them to, without really asking themselves what their real motivations are. Patriotism wasn't the only factor I cited.

No the media asks us to. If they didnt ask we quite possibly would never hear about it to know people in other countries where starving to death and there was a way to help. I've never seen a commercial that says give these starving people your money or we'll eat your baby. Just people asking if we can then please send some even a little bit will help etc..
I wasnt referring to you in particular just to the never ending people who do complain. Perhaps I could have worded it better and just used the word complaining. Originally I was going to use another word but figured not a good idea especially seeing as how it would be filtered any how.
I dont know that I have any reasons for helping. If I see some one in a ditch I think hey that person looks like they could use a hand. One time I got off work and there was this little old lady trying to walk 2 miles in a blizzard. Every one was passing by letting her walk. It was freezing out so I pulled over and gave her a lift. Talk about some pissed off people with me blocking the road.
But no way I was letting that lady walk that far. Especially when she was wearing a flimsy jacket. ;x ok I'm rambling now and my eye is killing me for some reason.
As for the patriotism not being the only one. It was the only one that came to mind when I was posting I"ll look over it later when my eye isnt hurting and possibly post more.
