It doesn't work that way. When programs are run from inside zips, they're either loaded into a temporary directory first or decompress it into memory. Either way, the scanner would still deal with it.

Then they weren't firewalls, they were software packages containing both firewalls and virus scanners.

Yes, but that hardly ever fools anybody. It's hardly the ploy of 'experienced hackers'.

Sometimes, The Trojan can infect other files and/or create a clone of itself in another directory.

Then delete the clones. Deletion is always enough, if applied thoroughly.
