Jormungander (epic norse sea serpent) could be cool. Constricts around the ship, deals continuing crushing damage, damagable by melee (or ranged) weapons, slows the ship or totally immobilizes it...
Trick with sea monsters, they have to give the reward directly to who killed them (or to everyone who damaged them, depending) - you can't pick up stuff on the water. |
