I can explain why it didn't work on the shield it consists of 3 major factors all shadowing the major point the three factors are:

1. Brads AC level

2. Brads MG level

3. Brads ability to handle improvements

You need a good ac level and magic level but then the ability to handle improvements is even more important because if you can handle 6 and you have 6 on your weapon you can't have another improvement on your armor. But all of this means nothing because as I said before they shadow the real important point of whether it will work or not and that is.. whether you are a flaming retard and basically Brad failed this test.. or one of the factors.. but I am betting on the latter shadowed point.
