Once i got the graal level editor open, i looked around and found Ace's scripting guide and other downloads from Graal topsites.
Looking at other people's working scripts is, i think, the best way to learn; provided that you then type out your own script from scratch, knowing how that other script worked.
but the observation of it working in action, and seeing the code, stepping through it, that is so important to learning. Its how people are traned for computer jobs in the real world, and how college courses are taught. My professors gave me code to make data structures for C++ class. And what that didn't give me, was in the textbook.
The scripting forums back in graal. 1.26 and when Thym was the moderator was the best place to learn scripting, becasue of the sharing for the common knowledge base that happened.
I even made an npc command search engine in Perl which is on my website (see link in my sig below)
But now with that egotistocal self absorbed Kaimetsu and his rule to not post complete npc's. that board sucks ballz. Thats just my opinon, which i have every right to express, as does everybody. |
