Does he have a trial account and not an upgraded one? You have to have at least a classic account for it to work.
Make sure he is spelling his name correctly with caps and all. Some times accounts wont work right when the caps arnt correct. Example Draygin draygin.
Also can he not log into RC? Or he can but nothing happens. If he cant log on you might also check IP range that is set.
