It's a bit of a mixed blessing, this new scheme. On one hand, you could potentially cut out the playerworlds nobody visits, which saves bandwidth, which saves money, which means everywhere else stays up. Which is undoubtedly a "whoo-hoo".
But on the other hand, what about the great playerworlds with cheap - or unable to pay for whatever reason - players?
A lot of Graal people simply won't pay more for the same content. That's why we lost a lot of players through Ghost and Trial modes - they were saying "Hey, give us money to keep what you have". As I pointed out then, and as I'll point out again now, incentives are better than punishments for attracting players.
* Edit: Now I realise that you'll be able to donate part of your subscription to a certain server, this seems like a surprisingly good idea.. :P |
