"general lag caused by overuse of flags" - I didn't mean that they can put flags everywhere; One per island etc. would be fine.
"inability to do all that design stuff" - I don't understand.
"all this flag information would have to be saved on the server side" - It wouldn't take much space or bandwidth at all.
Nevermind though, I suppose it was a dumb idea.
