The actual graphics are very bland, try shading it some to see if it'll look better. As for the actual design, I personally don't like it, but that's just my opinion. Of course maybe I'm being too critical, after all, you've only been working on it for an hour.
Moving on to the system, it's all fine and dandy, but you should make those features (all) optional, especially if it is going to be used for Bravo. I'd hate to be PK'ing and whenever someone dies I go to pick up their itmes, and I get a message above my head. Very irritating.
(Oh, and if we must use a custom GUI on Bravo, I think we should use Andor's. It was the one thing I really liked about the playerworld.)
