While we have nice, straight roads nowadays, with carefully groomed lawns and rows of identical-looking houses each with a single tree in the front yard, that was certainly not the case in medieval Europe. They had more mud, more weeds, more dirt... more nature, really. And since the process of building a house was much less mechanized, each one looked quite different. As for the roads I'm sure they had some straight ones, but they had curvy ones as well. |
