It's because whatever idiot scripted nearly 90% of all the random sized lights on 2k1 did a bad job and instead of only growing a certain ammount, they can grow and shrink as big as they want.. I'm guessing they chose the latter.

I think it was Loriel by the way.. at least that's what I heard.. if you go in front of birdbirds underwater "waterfall house" the lights on the bottom of the falls grow to fill the entire screen. (not sure if they still do) Also, the house level that birdbird used to have (that is in the uglake house) gets all blue also the longer you sit there.
