Yes! Exactly what I was thinking. The standard stick is free and weak, but it can break easily, but if it breaks, you can repair it and, for a fee, add in a particular mineral, like gold or iron, or maybe diamond. Like the diamond axe, the diamond-laced bamboo stick would never break, but it wouldn't have as much power as, say, an iron-laced bamboo stick, and would cost more.
