Midi's aren't illegal unless the actual game media is midi or has a copyright on it. If the game's music is midi but someone remixed it or created their own version then that's okay.

Say ripping the music from Doom or Doom 2 and using it is illegal, but if you go on vgmusic.com and download chrono trigger music then I think that's alright because the actual game music is imbeded in the cartridge with little music samples. (Various beeps and instruments mixed together to create the music, neat!) The midi's are more of a remix that isn't copyrighted and can be used freely unless stated other wise or you have to give credit to the author.

Stefan doesn't realize this and thinks that any midi assosiated with a game is automatically illegal. That's not true, only in some cases. ;\
