Well, it all depends on the history books and which version of his name you read. Vlad Dracul II, his father, was a definite "Dracul". There are speculations as to Dracula's actual last name. "Draculea" is what is seen most often in Romanian history books, I think, and it can roughly be translated as "Son of the Dragon" or "Son of the Devil", and that sort of fits in the first sense as Dracula was a member of the Order of the Dragon, a Templarist Knight thing...if I recall. I'm a bit rusty.  |
