I have been on IRC now for 7 years, thus, that makes me an IRC veteran. I have been part of countless channels and viewed how successful channels are made and not made.
A number of years ago, I ran a channel called #cybersex. Yup, #cybersex. Guess what the rules were?
- No swearing
- No sexual talk
- No racial or cultural slurs
- No flooding
- No harassment of any kind
And guess what? My channel, once it was established over a few months, never went below 100 users at any given time. We had fun in there, we had decent discussions, the channel was sane, and we had a great time. I know a thing or two about running a channel. You think you can just come here on these boards and say that #noidiots contains 'nice' people and where you can talk about whatever. #Graal is very alike in those respects. I just wanna maintain the peace in #Graal, and when people (not mentioning names) comes into the channel and disrupts it, then Zulithe and I get angry.
Your only reason for getting #noidiots successful is that you are female. Thats your only reason. If you were male, the tables would be turned. People in #cybersex didn't know I was female until months after the channel was established. People were actually pleasantly shocked to hear that.
So, please. Spare us the melodrama about your channel being for #noidiots, because I'm seeing otherwise.
