Yeah I was playing with them, too.

<6,9> includes just values between them, so 7 and 8.
|6,9> is 6, 7, and 8.
<6,9| is 7, 8, and 9.
|6,9| is 6, 7, 8, and 9.

I don't see why you'd ever need to mix them though.
