To elaborate on why i think this is a terrible step.
No balance was struck like a good update/change should. This change promotes idling and cowardliness in pking.
I believe the best solution for trade and safe zone pking was to alter the pking system so that after you have damaged a player (regardless of what follows) a 'Pk-able' timer is placed on you for a fair amount of time (30seconds). While under this timer you can be PK'ed even in a safe zone, anywhere. This timer would only vanish after spending the time displayed as a neutral player. Being attacked or attacking someone resets the timer automatically.
All safe zones would be as they should be 'safe' to the normal player, so i like this update in that respect.
Idlers are now immune. A simple macro can now allow someone to gain illegitimate hours (not that hours prove anything other than your addiction to a failed game) which i believe to be both against the rules and the communities ethics. How do you curb this? Well i had a thought that anyone staying inside the same level or group of levels (MMT) for more than 60minutes should be deemed pk-able. Controversial yes, because some people might choose to trade for longer than that, or to socialise. In this case the player would go into a special mode, call it an 'idle pk mode', would be set on that player. If they leave the level or group of levels, the mode is removed. If they are attacked, the mode is unchanged. Death removes the mode from the player and they are healed to full hp and sp. The rule of the pk timer applies to those who pk idlers.
Both i believe to be script-able, the difficulty I'm unsure of. They do seem to be the best solutions to everyone's problems. One of which has already been fixed. |
