Will GUI's ever be more responsive?

Right now the GUI's just don't feel responsive, particularly when it comes to text... but it applies to just about everything GUI. I think this is what people have problems with the most when it comes to the idea of everything being scripted. As it is, GUI's just aren't fun to work with. Sure, random NPC's using them with a few buttons or maybe typing, 'outfit one' or something, works... but when it comes to doing some actual work with them, their lack of response shows.

They just don't feel like they work the same as their OS counterparts that they're trying to mimic. Text is clumsy and slow in so many ways. Is it because Graal itself runs at 20fps? Can this be changed with external windows allowing them to run at 60fps and Graal at 20fps?

Other problems:

> Scrolling with a scrollbar, and moving only 5 pixels away snaps it back to its original position... compared to say, Windows, which allows for about a 25 pixel margin before doing so, it gets very frustrating to scroll through lots of text reading.
> Highlighting text always ignores the last character.
> Text needs a text cursor for more accurate selection/placement of the caret in the text(the I cursor).

Post more suggestions, because I think GUI's seriously need to be stepped up.
