Lions won't be much until they invest in their defense next year. ever wonder why lions always blow the leads their offense gives them?
they cant defend vs the passing game. should have figured that out against the saints.
Also Stafford needs to learn to find Calvin Johnson in man coverage more, the guy is 6' 6" and can jump to insane heights ON TOP of is height.

throw it a little high and let calvin johnson go up and grab it above the coverage.

edit: they have some nice foundations so far in the offense, but this is a team that needed work in pretty much every area and position.
you got the qb, some good WR's, Kevin Smith is a good RB, other than that, not much else there for the lions.
still need to invest in the o-line to get stafford more time, especially being a starting rookie QB on an unfinished team, he needs all the time he can get, also allows you to run kevin smith better, creating better holes for him in between the tackles, which improve the passing game and allows stafford to accomplish more as a gunslinger mentality QB.

then you need to invest in a good pass rush to start putting more pressure on the QBs and creates more havoc in the backfield.

after that, maybe some dbs or lbs, but you'd have to see where you are after developing a decent d-line that can put good pressure on the QB. either with LBs for helping create more pressure or stopping the run, or better defensive backs to further bolster the pass defense.

off to a good reconstruction so far, have some weapons on the offense already, but this is going to take a couple offseasons to build the lions into a competitive team.

edit2:As long as the Lions improve each year on their W-L record, I'd call it a successful year.
already 1 up on last years season and there's a couple games left in the schedule that you have a good chance in picking up a W(Rams, Browns). 3-13 is a hefty improvement over 0-16 in the course of one season
