Yes, that's exactly why it was done.
The
real reason is because of the insanely inefficient system that was being used needed to go. Sure, I could've untag-locked them, but look how well that's worked out in the past.
Basically there's 5 guns per gang, and the leader gets to choose who has them. Anytime the leader decided he didn't want someone to have a gun anymore (got in an argument, the person left, whatever) a staff member would have to manually remove the weapon from them, and give it to a new person chosen by the gang leader. With Daz not being very active lately, this was clearly causing some problems.
I'm sure there were alternatives, believe me, I considered them, but the best choice was to remove them completely.
