Well since so many of you have complained about wanting to close this thread, I'll post what the boss man himself said about the tournament: (as always read from bottom up)

people on their home server are always going to have an edge against "foreigners" because they are familar with everything. thats a fact. "foreigners" simply can't show up and expect to get into the monthly. you have to earn it either by getting to a location first or pming in first. if you don't, then you don't get in the tournament. end of story

I agree. I feel I already changed it enough for players from other servers by introducing the summon spars we do have. I mean it used to be all location spars but I made it half and half to accomodate our "foreign" players as you put it.

my problem with mystic's arguement is that he claims it isnt fair that classicians have an edge.

but why not? people who spend time on this server are going to know where the spar locations are. you can't change that.

mystic argues that "classicians know to have a pm ready for a mass" while foreigners won't, thus why they didnt get in many summon spars. thats not the fault of classics players

but the fact remains that each person has 8 chances to get in our tournament, even if they never know any of our spar locations. anyone can pm a gc for a summon spar; the question is whether they will be fast enough

we can't tell classicians to "forget" where spar locations are to make it "fairer" to foreigners. we can't tell classicians to "not have a pm ready" if the foreigners are too dumb to do it as well. we simply can't ignore the people who have played our on our server for hours on end just to appease these UN noobs who are making a 1 time visit

besides, theres never been a problem until this point. i was confused as to why our champ didnt get in, but if he wasn't fast enough then he wasnt fast enough, just like anyone else

I have and I've already told Mystic my piece on this the other day when he was whining to me. I kinda agree with the fact that Tatsumi or anyone shouldn't necessarily have 4 tries. But that's very playercount based and hard to enforce. Also the past month's champion not getting in. That is one thing we may change. Storm was asking about that one as well. Anyway I don't agree with the notion of drastically changing the tournament however. I will never turn this thing into a total summon extravaganza. Mystic might not care for tradition but I do in this regard. Tatsumi's point is probably the best though in that the biggest flaw only happened when there were less GCs hosting it. The more GCs hosting it the less likely the flaw pops up. But we'll probably discuss changes to the monthly if any before next month's.
